More London Line, London Bridge

More London, Tooley Street to the river, SE1

The pedestrian avenue running through the More London offices between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. A slim metal line is set dead-centre into the granite, running the length of the walkway toward the river and catching gold in low sun: a perfect ready-made leading line, with glass towers reflecting each other on both sides.

Best time: early and late for backlight down the avenue and long shadows. Wet days, when the polished granite and the line both turn to mirror.

Look for: get low and put the line dead-centre, running to a backlit figure at the far end. Reflections and repeated verticals in the glass, and commuters reduced to silhouettes against the bright end of the avenue.

Camera Settings

Any. Get the camera low for maximum line. Expose for the bright end and let figures fall to silhouette.

The Assignment

One frame, line down the centre, a single figure where it vanishes. Wait for the right walker.
