One New Change Roof Terrace, St Paul's
A free public roof terrace on the sixth floor of the One New Change centre, directly opposite the cathedral. The glass lift is signposted inside and open from early until late, and at the top you are almost eye-level with Wren's dome, close enough to fill a frame. No ticket, no minimum spend.
Best time: golden hour and sunset, when the dome catches warm light and the City glows behind it. Open roughly 6am to midnight daily.
Look for: the dome framed through the terrace's own glass and steel, or a visitor lining up their own photo with the cathedral behind them. Ride the glass lift for a moving frame of the dome as you climb.
Any. A short telephoto compresses the dome closer; a wide takes in the whole terrace and skyline.
Do not just shoot the dome. Photograph someone photographing it, dome and all, in one frame.
