After the Party
Early morning clearing up.
4am to 7am on a Sunday morning in a city centre. The street cleaners, the last partygoers, the people sleeping in doorways, the detritus of the night before.
How to shoot it: Shoot 4am to 7am on a Sunday in a city centre, when the night tips into morning. Photograph the street cleaners, the last stragglers, the debris, the strange empty light. Available light means high ISO and a fast lens, and the low sun later gives long shadows down empty streets. Keep your wits and your kit close at that hour, and shoot the melancholy honestly.
The output: One of the stranger and more melancholy British subjects available.
High ISO. Available light.
Set an alarm for 4am on a Sunday. Go out. Come back at 7am.
