A project about the British relationship with bad weather. People in inadequate clothing in the rain. Umbrellas turning inside out. Eating outside in the cold because the table was booked.

How to shoot it: Go out when everyone else stays in, because the weather is the subject, not an obstacle. Rain gives you umbrellas, reflections and hunched figures, frost gives you breath and low raking light, wind gives you comedy. Shoot in colour for the saturated misery, keep the shutter up and the camera under a flap of coat between frames. The gap between the forecast and the stubbornness is the whole project.

The output: Parr territory. One of the most British projects possible.
