How to shoot it: Dawn swims in winter give you steam off the water and the hardy regulars, summer gives you crowds and colour. Shoot the contrast between the cold water and the sky, the queue at the steps, the faces after a cold dip. Protect the camera near water, and a longer lens keeps you dry while reaching the swimmers. Ask the regulars, they are proud of it.
