'Believe in yourself' in a job centre.

Find and photograph motivational language in bleak contexts - the positive thinking poster in the waiting room, the 'Teamwork' graphic in a warehouse.

How to shoot it: Hunt for positive language in bleak settings, the believe-in-yourself poster in the job centre, the teamwork graphic in a grim warehouse, the inspirational quote in a waiting room. Shoot it straight and deadpan so the irony is the viewer's to find. Flat institutional light suits it. Include just enough of the room to make the context unmistakable, and never more than you need.

The output: A series that says a great deal about how institutions deal with difficulty.
