The hardest place to shoot is somewhere 'boring' — a quiet suburb, an affluent street, a green with nothing on it. But boredom is a subject, not an obstacle. The stillness, the routine, the sameness, and the small tells of the people who live there: that is the picture. Stop waiting for something to happen and photograph the fact that nothing does.

The shift: lower your expectation of drama and raise your attention to detail — light, gesture, repetition, the odd thing out.

Look for: the empty street at golden hour, the lone figure in a big green space, the quiet ritual. Deadpan, patient, observational.
